Dear friends,
Belated best wishes for September (I am running behind this month with my month-end tasks) — you can read about my August here:
As you’ll see, it wasn’t an especially strenuous one, so I don’t really have any excuse for being so slow.
Work-wise, things are about to ramp up a notch again — I actually quite like having the annual cycle of academia as it’s a bit better to predict the peaks and troughs of busy-ness, but that’s swings and roundabouts as I am now bracing for the pressure
(but also excitement!) of my new role as lecturer on MA Design for Data Visualisation. (Very cool!!! I am still delighted to have got the job). I’ll still be teaching a little on BA User Experience Design too, it looks like, so very much best of both worlds.
Hope you’re all having a nice time and not too miserable about looming Autumn. I used to find autumn and winter hard work and thought I maybe had that ‘SAD’ disorder, but it turned out I was actually just getting sad because I lived in cold, draughty houses
with leaking windows. Since moving to Croydon (of all places) and investing in a heated throw, winters suddenly seem quite a charming, quaint, cosy prospect. Here’s hoping you’re able to get similarly psyched for winter, especially if you are a chronic cold
hands and feet haver like me.
Hope to see you round,
