Hi Katja! Yes, I'll be at the cotech thing in March, actually I have a session there
on Community Tech - a show and tell. I'll do one slot of Karrot, but thinking 2 more
slots - Natasha (outlandish) is organising the whole thing and suggested keeping the show
& tell thing to co-tech people, given you are cotech connected, maybe you'd be up
to do a show & tell on something? (idea is for matt to introduce community tech
network work via video call, and then 3 in-person show & tells of about 10 minutes
each, then a discussion).
the whole event agenda is
I did try and find some tech for good south west things to go to, but could never find any
thing to plug into... I have met Annie a couple of times, and have a nice chat, but yeah,
different world I think.
- Karrot looks awesome. Amazing that you have managed to keep it online 9 years and
going.
thanks :) I'm amazed it's 9 years really... it had a much grander start in life in
an Italian mansion back in 2015 -->
(2/5 of our team were at that original event).
(and hi to Oliver too! 👋🤗)

Nice to meet you! Maybe see you in London for CoTech
meet in March? If not, then I look forward to meeting you online at a one of these tech
partners meets. The co-op I belong to will be joining CoTech as soon as our paperwork is
in order & I already work with Creative Coop who are active members - so we are bound
to cross paths soon.
As you know from Discord, I am also on the fringes of Tech for Good South West - but not
enamoured with them.

https://codeberg.org/karrot/ - which is becoming a kind of all in one tool for community
organising (which can mean multiple things...) of a self-organised flavour, commons-y,
sociocracy kind of idea. It's based on independent groups you have to apply to join,
has threaded messaging, activity co-ordination, polls, trust-based permissions, video
calls, collaborative pads, plugin system, etcetc. Roles, and sanctions coming soon. Built
with django + vue + postgres + redis, kind of "boring" stack. Self-hostable via
co-op cloud / etc. And strongly open source.

used for other community organising use cases too. I'm keen to find scenarios to
collaborate, use it as a base to build other things (maybe can avoid building more similar
things from scratch?), share learnings, or just hang out and talk about these kind of
things! Especially in the UK (where I am from and based, but our team is distributed
around Europe). We have had two rounds of funding from nlnet, around 45kEUR in total, and
have been online about 9 years (!), and the food saving groups use it to co-ordinate
distribution of around 4000kg of food per day.

our costs of living, probably need to do some of that this year, so also looking to
collaborate on that kind of thing too.
