Yes, thanks for the meeting Kim and for keeping this network alive. All great points by Joe and Oliver! I'd be up for hosting / note taking on a rotation as Joe suggested. And also think the tiers proposed by Oliver sound good. Zine is "another thing to produce" but definitely something we've thought of and tried our hand at in the past, so not a bad back burner idea. How are the current zine(s?) selling?Katja Mordaunt (she/her)Technical Project LeadGeeks For Social ChangeI work part time for GFSC and may not always be able to respond immediately to your message. I am going to chat to the TP tech team to see if this is something we can put into next year's budget.Around these meetings, would it be helpful to rotate facilitation & note taking in them?Solidarity,Joe

- one tier for organisations that's somewhere between £50-150 a year,
- an option for big bastard corpos to "pay what you like".
Pop corn brain here:
Joe mentioned a Zine on the call, I wonder if there's a way to sell a GFSC zine, that's super cheap to produce, but we could charge £10 for. People could buy the zine to support, or they get the annual zine if they pay £25 a year or above. It loops into some of the design work some of the collective like doing, and gets a tangible thing into people's hands.
Content Design Brain on
I would consider making the subscriber/member offer more clear, the "why sign up" and perhaps bring it to the start of the article as currently it's buried in the "How you can support us" section currently. I'm thinking bold bullets communicating what members get. This is also the bit I'd want to shout about when promoting the collective in networks and various spaces._______________________________________________On Mon, 13 Jan 2025 at 16:35, Kim Foale <kim@gfsc.studio> wrote:_______________________________________________Heya all, hope you had a refreshing NYE break. For me I'm feeling like this is the most unrefreshed I've ever been into new year just due to state of the world so hope you're all faring better.Big update from me: I have now boiled down all the future direction of GFSC into an a draft announcement blogpost. The password is "future". I'd love everyone's feedback:I've obviously name checked you all in there so please do let me know if this is ok to mention you like this and I will check in with you all about it before it goes live.If anyone would like to be a contributor please shout as well. We are looking for people who can give a regular 1-3 hours a month and can do a min 3 month run initially -- vibe is "getting a band together" for the time being and we can open up to guest or one-off spots later. We're coordinating this on discord currently.I hope this sounds good as I will be bugging you all soon individually to support us financially to the tune of something like an hour's consultancy rate for your org every month very soon -- gfsc is currently losing money and we need to at least start covering our expenses :)I'll start working on a followup lottery bid next month - I am confident we can nail it this time.A bit of a timeline for this project:
* this week im gonna finish up that draft blog post and check in with the tech partners mentioned in the article above
* next week ill work on the static pages and stuff like that (i.e. about page, work out what we need to tell people about volunteering, what needs migrating from the current site still)
* last week of jan hopefully ill work on themeing for some value of that and getting live
* then into feb - i'm taking a hol first week of feb
* after im back lets get going* possible formal launch spring equinox?if anyone wants to help with any of this do let me know. the big stuff is:
* naming the sponsorship tiers, tying down the amounts, and making them sound sexy and writing out the benefits (id like to streamline all direct donations through this but i might be trying to do too much here) - a lot of this is wood for trees stuff writing up what we already do so other peoples input really helpful
* reviewing my placeholder copy and helping improve it or giving suggestions
* implementing a theme when its done (olu is down for this but the more the merrier)* tell me what features youd like to be a part of or if you can help with production* making a feature wishlist and seeing if there's anyting else tech wise we need to get going (one thing i notice is it only has X and Facebook integrations, it would be nice to have bsky and mastodon)Thanks all, reminder we have a meeting next tuesday 21st at 12:30 where we can go over this together.Kim--Dr Kim Foale (they/she)Working hours: Mon-Wed 10-5pm.If anything about this email is confusing or unclear please let me know.
